My Projects

Projects where I've applied my skills in tech, community work, and storytelling

Started by a college senior of mine in 2013, Srishti evolved to be a talk of the town in Karaikudi over the years.I took part in it in my capacity of amateur singer in its 2015 and 2016 editions.Devoting time to practice for the shows amidst academics was pretty tough but it was all worth in the end as ,in total 3500 tickets got sold approximately from the entire run of the show. The donations to the needy in the form of differently abled aids and cash proceeds. It was the time when I got to work with district administration, civil society and general public in a larger scale.Click on the image to view the work.

An online group in Facebook would be the most interesting time kill option for the millennials. With Instagram taking over Facebook and short format video consumption at peak , the thing i tried to just kill time in 2019 became the most interesting networking activity of mine.I was always awed by the Madras local history groups contribution in Facebook by user generated content.I was interning with The Hindu Metroplus Madurai in 2019 and I started a similar group for madurai.Though many such online updates exist, the group served me in the first place to know about madurai , tamil events across the globe , tamil literary scene , writers of repute and much more.I get first hand information regarding the above topics which may seem unimportant to a common eye.Yet , it amuses me to just share what's over there already, curate content for my own interest rather than to stand as beacon I have run the group as a ritual from 2019.Click on image to go the group.

Inspired by the success of campus news blog , the appreciation and recognition i recieved from both alumni and seniors , I went on one step further to create a campus based radio.Marred by the limitations of physical set up for a community FM kind of arrangement, I took the online route to roll out recorded podcasts which was featured in a custom website .It enabled us to interview alumni , scientists from nearby CECRI campus and the Karaikudi general public. We used to broadcast the shows in mass call blasts . Attending the call would ensure the receiver gets the entire 10-15 min in IVRS type calls.Though the website we built is long gone , the entire exercise tested our technical capabilities live while still being within the student community . WhatsApp and Youtube were just picking steam in India from 2013.To think back it is just one close to heart project.Click on image to view the work.

During my third semester of course study , I initiated a campus news blog to ensure better communication and news spreading of what's happening around in the campus.Pulling out people with interests in news reporting from each department of my batch , we made campus journalists out of engineering students.Started in 2015 , the blog has stood to its name and runs continuously spreading information from around the campus in my college. The successive torch bearers continued the good work. From creating a logo , to having a custom made news theme , we tried out a lot to have a systematic and interestingly campus blog which would continued to be maintained by the students without staff /senior intervention.Something curious for the young minds to be engaged with in otherwise mundane academic life .Try the theme here : https://m.soundcloud.com/girpiano/accet-news-theme.Click on image to view the blog.
